PORTABLE CONTAINER DELIVERY

Is Your Site Ready?

All Make Space Storage portable containers are delivered on a tilt deck and load trailers that require enough space for our drivers to maneuver and position the container. Upon the trailer's arrival, we need to ensure your property is accessible and provides enough room for delivery. The space must meet the height, width and straight-line clearance specifications for the chosen container to guarantee delivery.

20ft Containers

Delivery for a 20ft container will require the following to ensure the truck has enough room for maneuvering and positioning:

  • Minimum width of 14 feet. All containers are on a 12 foot wide deck, requiring a minimum of 1 foot on each side for the truck to back in and out of the location.
  • Maximum height of 18 feet. The deck will be lifted upward to a maximum height of 18 feet before being placed in position.
  • Minimum straight-line clearance of 65 feet. Straight-line clearance is the length of the truck, deck and container as shown in the photo.

40ft Containers

40ft shipping containers are significantly larger than 20ft containers and require a much larger space when delivered. Delivery for a 40ft container will need the following to ensure the truck has enough room for maneuvering and positioning:

  • Minimum width of 14 feet. All containers are on a 12 foot wide deck, requiring a minimum of 1 foot on each side for the truck to back in and out of the location.
  • Maximum height of 18 feet. The deck will be lifted upward to a maximum height of 18 feet before being placed in position.
  • Minimum straight-line clearance of 110 feet. Straight-line clearance is the length of the truck, deck and container as shown in the photo.

Which Way Do You Want Your Door?

The placement of your container is very important because each of our portable containers has one door on the end. Since our trucks are backed into position, the container will need to be placed on the truck in the position you want your container facing.

We recommend having the doors facing the rear of the truck for residential deliveries. When the truck backs into position, the container doors will face your garage doors, making it easier for you to pack your things into the container.

Accessibility

If you have any concerns about your delivery location during the booking process, our customer service representatives would be happy to answer any questions and provide recommendations on the best area to place your container. Upon arrival, the driver will also assess whether or not the space is suitable for delivery based on the below criteria.

Check Your Ground Conditions

Portable storage containers for moving and storage often need to be placed on a sturdy surface such as a driveway, residential street, gravel road, concrete pad or wooden platform. Having your container positioned on your driveway is the best option for a faster packing process for residential moves and storage.

Make Sure There Are No Obstructions

Residence deliveries may be delayed due to obstructions to the delivery process. Obstructions can include powerlines, parked vehicles, branches, residential construction and more. Please notify us of these obstructions before delivery to ensure we schedule enough time with our delivery drivers. Obstructions that can be moved before delivery should be done so to avoid additional delays.

End of Rental Term Procedure

For both residential and commercial customers, we ask that you give us at least 3 business days notice for the container return. You can return your unit at any time during your rental cycle; however, please note that you will not get refund for the days unused as we don't prorate.

When moving a container to a secondary address for residential or commercial rentals, we also ask for 36-48 hours' notice to move your loaded container. Our facility manager will work directly with you if more time is needed. Addition fees apply for this move.
